How to Attract and Engage More Customers with ImagesMarch 2, 2016
Have you noticed a shift between text and images when it comes to digital marketing? Marketers once added images to a blog, for example, as a way to add visual interest to a story. Now the roles have reversed. Images have become the main course in marketing, with text as a side order. Here are a few ways you can use images to attract and engage your customers.
Adding images to articles can boost that content’s page views. But a study from Skyword found that certain content categories, such as news, politics and sports, benefit more from images than others. The key is to make sure the images relate well to the content. Articles containing relevant images have 94 percent more total views than articles without images, on average. To get the most from your images, make sure you use search-optimized captions and metadata.
If you want to get more press coverage, images and videos will make a big difference in the amount of online views. PR Newswire analyzed more than 10,000 press releases and found that the more multimedia you include in your press materials, the more views you’re bound to get. A press release that includes text, a photo and video is likely to get 48 percent more views than a release with text alone.
Images help local businesses stand out from their competition too. Studies have shown that 60 percent of consumers who search online are more likely to consider or contact a business that has an image show up in local search results. For best results, choose a high-quality photo of your business or product/service instead of your company logo.
It should come as no surprise that high-quality images are vital when it comes to selling products online. Here’s more proof: a National Retail Federal report found that 63 percent of customers value the quality of a product’s image more than product-specific information. Fifty-four percent valued the image more than a long description, and 53 percent valued the image more than ratings and reviews. In order to get the most from your images, provide customers with alternate views of each item.
Of course, social media posts benefit from photos as well. It’s what has led to the popularity of Instagram. For best results, choose high quality images that your followers and prospects will want to share.
