How do you convert your Website into a mobile phone friendly Website? Is this something to be concerned about?

Mobile advertising is getting more successful at creating brand awareness and purchase intent, compared to traditional online advertising. Market research firm InsightExpress recently did a study that found mobile campaigns thru the 4th quarter of 2009 performed 4-1/2 to 5 times better than online ones for awareness, message association, brand favorability and purchase intent.

The survey also found that mobile campaigns overall led to a higher level of purchase intent than online ones in such key consumer categories as travel, auto, retail and technology.

The trick to making mobile advertising successful is finding a way to convert your website content for mobile devices so that everything on your site displays properly when viewed in a smaller screen.

Thankfully, there are several online services that will make the conversion process easier, and enable more visitors to be able to see your website on a mobile device. Here are a few third party solutions that you can try out:

>Mippin – This company provides a mobile publishing service named Mippin Maker, which allows you to convert your web site or blot into a mobile version for free.  Mippin also allows you to monetize your mobile site through advertisements from AdMob.  (www.mippin.com)

>Google’s Conversion Utility – A simple conversion tool – just enter the URL of the website and indicate if you want pictures included. Click Go and you now have a mobile-optimized version of the site! (www.google.com/gwt/n)

>MobiSiteGalore – A free service that allows you to build, publish and share a full-fledged mobile website guaranteed to work on any mobile phone. (www.mobisitegalore..com)

>Zinadoo – Easily create, publish and share your mobile website. You can colorize the website, create a page that site visitors can email you from or request you call/email them back, create guestbook & comments pages. (www.zinadoo.com)

>Winksite – Mobile website builder includes RSS-driven content deployment and mobile-tuned community features such as forum, chat, and polls. Creation process doesn’t require any downloads or installation of software applications. Ability to monetize with Google Mobile Adsense. (www.winksite.com)

>Mobify – A free service that makes WordPress, Drupal and other websites mobile-friendly. Also supports iPhone, Android, BlackBerry & 4500+ other devices. It’s helpful to know CSS for the design process, but image resizing, content adaptation, mobile SEO, and analytics are taken care of automatically. Site resides on a URL like m.yoursite.com. (mobify.me).

Most of these services are easy to use, allowing you to set up a mobile site in less than 10 minutes. If you need a custom solution, please contact Meredith Communications for information on our mobile site services.
